Since it was established in 1926, the Friendship Fund has been a tangible demonstration of the love and concern we feel for one another. It is based on the beautiful foundation of our organization – sisterhood. Many sisters have received care, love and support by means of a gift from the Friendship Fund in a time of need. For many, this gift has made all the difference in their times of hardship.

The Friendship Fund provides gifts to Thetas experiencing extreme financial hardship due to serious or terminal illness, job loss, natural disaster or other devastating circumstances.

So how does it work? One of the most moving and important aspects of the Fund is the secrecy and direct devotion demonstrated by the giving of gifts. Two members write on behalf of a sister in need. The Friendship Fund committee then determines the award amount and supports a sister. The requesters remain anonymous and all records are confidential. In moments like these, it is so easy to see the vital support that Kappa Alpha Theta sisterhood can give to an individual.

Through the Friendship Fund, we are able to demonstrate that sisterhood is sometimes more than meets the eye and that each sister will have an opportunity to feel this support if they so need. The widest influence for good is what we strive for, and achieve, with the Friendship Fund.

Contributions to the Friendship Found are traditionally made through Founder’s Day gifts, but donations are welcome and encouraged at anytime during the year. The suggested contribution for members of Gamma Epsilon is $1 for each year of membership. The Friendship Fund reaffirms our belief that Kappa Alpha Theta is larger than ourselves, and that what we give to one another comes full circle.
